Another Day at Sea – Cruise Day 5

Our final full day of the cruise.  Another day at sea!  I love days at sea.  I find them very relaxing and fun.

Cruise Day 5

Our Final Breakfast

Our family isn’t big on breakfast, but we all got out of bed in time to eat breakfast every day on the cruise.   They had the best bacon and waffles and so many yummy breakfast entrees.   Lots of fruits. oatmeal, cold cereals, sausage, omelets, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, toast, muffins, bagels, biscuits, and yogurt.  You name it and they had it.

After breakfast, we headed to a Morning Trivia Contest.  We played as a family team.  We didn’t win, but it was fun.

Another Cruise

Neal and Liv headed to a dodgeball tournament and Mike and I went to the “Future Cruise” area on the ship.  We thought we would just look at some of the cruises they were promoting.  We booked another Royal Caribbean Cruise for the fall of 2020.  It will be a 12-day cruise over our anniversary in Oct.   We will be celebrating 40 years (Can that be possible?)   So we booked a Mediterranean cruise, leaving from Barcelona Spain with stops in France, Italy, and Greece.

Cruise

The longest cruise we have been on is 7 days.  This fall we will be on a 10-day one on Princess with his college friends and then next year this 12-day one.  I love cruising, but not sure if I will reach a point where it seems too long.  Hard to imagine as much as I enjoy it, but we will see.

Royal Caribbean makes it quick and easy to book your next cruise with them.  Not sure if that is good or bad.  We went knowing we might book something, and in a matter of a half-hour, we had a date and destination.

Solarium

Mike and I headed to the solarium for the better part of the afternoon.

We then enjoyed a little snack in the Windjammer Cafe.  They baked a giant cake for everyone to enjoy.

Luggage

Then it was back to the room for a shower and to pack up our luggage.

When you cruise, you must prepare your luggage for disembarkation the night before you are getting off the ship.  They pick up your luggage between 9 and midnight and take it to a place where it can be easily removed from the ship.   You then pick it up after you are off the ship.

So you keep a little bag of items you will need in the morning and then pack everything else up and set it outside your room.

More Trivia

Once the luggage was packed up it was time to get ready for an early evening of games and a night of fun.

All four of us headed to Where in the World, Trivia at Schooner Bar,  it was a geography trivia contest.  We placed second.  But it was fun.   Then keeping with the trivia theme we entered a General Knowledge Trivia Contest.

Our Final Dinner

We enjoyed our final dinner with Carlos and Edwin serving us.  They were great the entire trip and helped to make our cruise wonderful.  They paid attention to every detail.

Carlos and Edwin

Here we are with Carlos and Edwin.

Last night

At dinner, we discussed the cruise and all agreed that the highlight was the meals/food and spending time together.   We were all underwhelmed with the port stops/shore excursions but still had a great time.   Neal and Liv felt the ship needed more things geared to their age group.  There were lots of things for families with young children to do and older people but not as much for them.  But they still had a great time. (I think)

At the end of the dinner, they held a staff parade.

Dancing the Night Away

Mike and I headed to the Centrum for the night and danced with Locomotion until they closed the place down.

The End is Near

Sadly, our cruise was coming to an end.  We had a delightful time and even though we were all underwhelmed with the shore excursion/destinations overall we had a great trip.  It was especially nice to share the time with our son and his girlfriend.  We were sorry to see the cruise coming to an end.
